The staff of Wood-Dulohery understands there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all policy in auto insurance. We pride ourselves on taking the time to discuss your needs and wants.
Bodily injury (BI) and property damage (PD) liability coverage is the most basic form of coverage. It does not cover damages or injuries you sustain in an accident, only damages/injuries that the other party suffers.
Comprehensive coverage and collision coverage are two different policies that are often confused. Comprehensive coverage typically applies when damage occurs to your vehicle that is out of your control, such as a hailstorm or a deer running into your car. Collision coverage applies if you are in an accident that involves another vehicle, a building, or a stationary object.
Personal injury protection or medical payments coverage differs from bodily injury coverage in that it covers the medical treatments, rehabilitation, and funeral expenses for you and your passengers.
Underinsured/uninsured driver coverage is quite important. This coverage protects you if the other party does not have insurance or doesn't have enough insurance to cover costs. It also protects you if you are involved in a hit and run.
Gap insurance is for new/used car purchases. If your car is totaled within THE FIRST MONTHS after purchase, insurance will cover the car’s value. Gap insurance “fills in the gap” between what the insurance claim covers and what you still owe on the vehicle.
Rental car & roadside assistance coverage apply if you need a rental car while your car is being repaired. If you're broken down on the side of the road, you can get help from a tow truck or other service with roadside assistance.
